NB: when replacing your old birfields, it is always a good idea as well as the proper procedure to also replace the drive flanges.
Any wear at the interface between the splined stub of the birfield and the drive flange will accelerate the wear greatly if only one of the two parts is replaced - so, always replace the birfield and the drive flanges as a pair at the same time if your parts have been in use for some time.
Early, short spline birfields are not compatible with the later drive flanges.
